Detour
Privacy Policy
Detour doesn't collect your data. What you browse, download, and play stays yours.

The short version
Detour is made by Lumine Strategies, LLC. It has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and it doesn't send anything to us. There's no Detour server. Your browsing, files, and music stay on your devices.
What stays on your devices
- Your browsing history, open tabs, bookmarks, and Reading List.
- Your downloads and files, including Private and locked folders.
- Your music, playlists, favorites, and lyrics.
- Your settings.
- Passwords for servers and computers you add. They're kept in this device's Keychain and aren't synced.
What leaves your device, and why
- Websites you visit. Like any browser, Detour loads pages, images, and site icons from the sites you open. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
- Your search engine. Searches go to the search engine you choose in Settings. Search suggestions send what you type to that search engine as you type. They're never used in private tabs, and you can turn them off.
- Fraudulent website warnings. Detour can warn you about known fraudulent websites using Apple's WebKit. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Look Up. When you tap Look Up on a picture, Apple identifies what's in it, like a plant, pet, or landmark. Selecting text in a picture and Copy Subject stay on your device.
- Purchases. Detour Pro is bought through Apple. We never see your payment details.
- Servers and cloud folders you add. Detour connects to a computer or server only when you add it, over SMB, WebDAV, FTP, or SFTP. Cloud folders like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and Box open through Apple's Files app, so Detour never sees your login for them.
On your Wi-Fi network
- Wi-Fi Transfer lets a computer on your Wi-Fi open your Detour files while it's turned on. You can set a password for it.
- Sending to a nearby device goes straight from one device to the other, and each transfer is encrypted.
Apple Watch
Your music library, and the songs you add to Apple Watch, go straight from your iPhone to your watch.
Permissions
Detour asks before using any of these, and only when a feature needs it. You can change them anytime in the Settings app.
- Camera to scan documents, and for websites you allow.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition for voice search, which is turned into text on your device, and for websites you allow.
- Location only for websites you allow, like maps.
- Photos to save photos and videos to your library when you ask.
- Local Network for Wi-Fi Transfer, sending to nearby devices, and finding computers on your network.
- Face ID or Touch ID to unlock Detour, Private, and private browsing.
- Notifications to tell you when a download finishes.
Your data, your control
Everything Detour keeps stays on your device for as long as you keep it, and nowhere else. You can remove it anytime.
- Delete files and downloads in Detour's Files and Downloads tabs.
- Clear your browsing history and website data in Settings › Clear History and Website Data.
- Remove a server or computer you added, along with its saved password: in Files, touch and hold it, then tap Remove.
- Remove music from Apple Watch: open it on your watch and tap Remove from Watch.
- Your files can be part of your iCloud or computer backup. To leave downloads out, turn off Backup Downloaded Files in Settings.
- Deleting Detour removes everything it stored on your device.
Children
Detour isn't directed at children under 13. We don't collect personal information from anyone.
